As I mentioned last week, there is a lot of work that has to be done prior to putting in the foundation and foundation walls for the connector. This week's theme is "water". The water supply lines coming into the buildings are being re-routed. More noticeable though, is the work around stormwater runoff. The parking lot has been dug up to put in large pipes as part of a stormwater detention system.

If you are an expert in stormwater runoff, these pictures will make a lot of sense to you. If, like me, you aren't an expert in this, you'll see that there are some trenches with pipes in them.

Before the Foundation

The work of connecting our two main buildings involves digging and preparing to lay the new foundation of the connector. Much of the first floor of the connector is an area that was, or is currently, underground. This means a new foundation needs to be laid for the connector to sit on. Before the foundation can be laid, a lot needs to be put under that foundation, such as plumbing. Here is what it looks like, before the foundation.
